SAVE SILVER STAR PROVINCIAL PARK

The Citizens' Coalition to Save Silver Star Provincial Park is an ad hoc committee of concerned British Columbians who care deeply about the future of Silver Star Provincial Park. The park is threatened on many fronts, and the coalition has initiated this website as a public service to inform British Columbians of what is happening in this beautiful park. Almost 40% of the park has been deleted and added to the private ski resort's Controlled Recreation Area, and future deletions are likely. A disturbing trend is developing at Silver Star Mountain, wherein land is initially deleted from the park for recreational uses, then later rezoned for fee simple property development. For a quick overview of some of the issues facing the park, click the video icons below.

We Need Your Help!

We are always looking for more information regarding Silver Star Provincial Park, so if you have any inside knowledge regarding lands deleted from the park, or regarding the golf course, or any other issue, we'd love to hear from you! If you would like to help preserve the park, we always need more eyes and ears looking out for the interests of the park.

Currently, we are concerned about clearcutting of the golf course fairways, since it appears these will only be used for sewage effluent disposal! If you would like to help protect these lands from further logging, and are willing to occasionally hike, bike, or ski into the golf course area, please let us know! We would appreciate your help!

If you have any comments regarding the park, or notice errors or omissions in this website, please fill out the form below. We do want to hear from as many people as possible!

We will make every effort to ensure the information presented here is accurate and up to date. We encourage you to tell as many people as possible about this website, since the best way to ensure the park will be there for our grandchildren (and their grandchildren) is to educate the public on what is happening to our beautiful park!
